EQUIPMENT
Know the equipment. Do not use equipment if you have not received the appropriate training.
All users are required to attend a simulation training session before utilizing the mannequins.
All medications used in clinical practice scenarios are either expired or simulated. They are not to be used for patient medication under any circumstances.
Report any breakages or damaged or malfunctioning equipment to Lab Staff.
Equipment must not be removed or borrowed from the NT Sim Lab without prior approval from Lab Staff.
The NT Sim Lab should be left clean and tidy by all learners and staff. Clean up after yourself and put everything back where it belongs.

Bookings are required to access the NT Sim Lab, preferably at least two week's prior to your event. All users must also complete a booking form (below), which includes details such as learner type, equipment requirements and learning objectives of the session. This is to ensure that the space is available at the time you require and that we have the equipment and staff needed to run your session.
All users are required to abide by the Policies and Procedures of the NT Sim Lab - please read these before progressing with a booking. We ask that you visit the NT Sim Lab prior to your event to undertake an orientation and discuss the details of the session with our Program Manager or Simulation Technician.

The NT Sim Lab provides many opportunities for teaching and learning with the aim of achieving excellence in clinical practice. It is available to undergraduate and postgraduate students and health professionals across a range of training providers and disciplines including: Medicine, Nursing, Audiology, Chiropractic, Dentistry, Dietetics, Exercise Physiology, Medical Laboratory Science, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Oral Health, Orthoptics, Orthotics and Prosthetics, Osteopathy, Paramedicine, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Psychology, Radiation Science, Social Work, Sonography, Speech Pathology and Aboriginal Health.
Flinders NT Medical Program is increasingly incorporating simulation into the curriculum across the four years of training for medical students. Simulation plays a key role in clinical teaching by enabling learners to practice and hone their skills in a realistic and safe environment, focusing on both clinical skills and broader communication skills, with the ultimate goal of increasing patient safety.
